It's Lexie's world, and we're just living in it!
The Titans are the champions of the Poway 5th/6th Grade Girls Soccer League! They took down a tough squad in the semifinals in a Saturday morning 8am game 2-1, and then took down an incredible championship game Saturday night that ended regulation in a 0-0 tie with Lexie's team taking down the shootout 4 goals to 3. Lexie played defense almost the entirety of both games, which means she was a part of a defense that gave up just one goal in two huge playoff games.
Laureen and I had tickets to Billy Joel in Vegas for Saturday night, so we missed the championship but did get to see the semifinal. Laureen's family filled in for us, and then some, though, loudly cheering the Titans on to victory. We were, of course, on the phone with them throughout most of the game and got to hear the girls going crazy when they won, and we also were the obnoxious bragging parents to anyone that would listen for the rest of the night.
The feeling of winning a championship is not something that one gets to experience in any sport at any level very often. I am so glad Lexie got to have this experience. Anyway, here are your 2007 soccer champions!
